VAUBAN CONGRESS
The Vauban Association, chaired by Alain MONFERRAND, who is also a member of the Vauban Network's scientific committee, was present in Longwy. During this visit, which was attended by 64 members from various backgrounds (all regions of France, but also the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium, and even Canada and the US), the city of Longwy presented the remains of its military heritage, as well as its expertise in ceramics. The morning continued at the Town Hall of Longwy-Haut, where Vincent HAMEN, Mayor of Longwy, and Isabelle MAHADE, Deputy Mayor for Heritage, presented the city's future projects. This was followed by a discussion on Vauban's heritage
Vauban heritage, during which President Monferrand received the medal of the city of Longwy and the mayor received that of the Vauban Association, created in 2007 for the tercentenary of the marshal's death. This was an opportunity to recall that the Vauban Association, created in 1981, is at the origin of the Vauban Network, which has held the UNESCO World Heritage label since 2008.
AWARD CEREMONY FOR THE A.V. IN UXEGNEY
During our general meeting in Metz on June 12, the Vauban Association award was presented to Uxegney. This provided an opportunity for President Monferrand and the participants of the Congress to officially present the award during our visit to the fortifications on June 15.
In 1993, the A.V. awarded a prize to Uxegney for its management of the fortifications of Uxegney and Bois l'Abbé. This time, it is to mark the completion of the restoration of the fort of Uxegney and the reconstruction of the 60-gauge railway network that linked the two forts dismantled after the war.
Another prize was awarded to the Pugey fort for its restoration and to Colonel Henri Ortholan for his written work on the fortifications.

NEUF BRISACH
Almost two years after settling in the Vauban fortifications in Neuf-Brisach. Their barrels age in casemate 67, Porte de Bellefort, in an area of 100 m²: the couple of winegrowers who settled there have just released their first bottles. A successful venture, it is a very good place to age wine, as temperatures vary little.

UNESCO APPLICATION BY ALMEIDA, VALENÇA DO MINHO, AND MARVAO
António Machado (Almeida), Luís Vitorino (Marvão), and Manuel Lopes (Valença do Minho) are the municipal officials who submitted this application, officially registered on June 4, and are convinced that eventual recognition by UNESCO will certainly reinforce the universal value of these sites. The ceremony took place at the Almeida Center for Military Architecture Studies, with the Vauban association represented by its president Alain Monferrand, due to the experience gained with the launch of the Vauban network application and the partnership established with this future network. The serial application for the fortifications is based on unique historical sites with exceptional content and heritage of great authenticity. For the mayor of Almeida, the submission of the dossier is a major step forward and a success. António Machado hopes that this application will be successful, enhancing and promoting the economic, social, and cultural development of the territories. The mayor of Almeida believes that, if this application is approved, new investments may emerge within the walls.
António Machado hopes that the process will be forwarded to Paris, where UNESCO's headquarters are located, with the endorsement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government, and the President of the Portuguese Republic.
